Parakeet Care Guide:

Feed your parakeet 1-2 teaspoons of a fortified parakeet feed once a day. A seed based diet with pellets is recommended to be fed to your parakeet. Parakeets only eat the top layer off of their food dish, so if feeding seeds, be sure to clean out empty hulls. Offer fruit and veggies daily. Be sure to provide cuttle bone to your parakeet at all times. Parakeets should always have access to clean, fresh water.

Parakeets like to stretch their wings and have toys in their cage. Choose a cage that is large in size. A variety of toys and perches should be available to your bird. Parakeets are very social birds and like to be held and stroked. They are very smart and can be taught to do tricks such as “step up”. To make sure that your bird is healthy look for clear, bright eyes; clean, smooth feathers; normal droppings, and a curious and active personality.

All pets may bite or scratch, by doing so they may transmit disease to humans. Keep your pets home clean and wash your hands before and after handling your pet or cleaning his home. Anyone at a great risk of infection should use caution when in contact

with pet or its habitat.
