Make sure feed is always available to your pet. Pet blocks are needed for them to gnaw on to keep teeth from getting too long. Fresh water should be readily available. Small pieces of vegetables can be offered as treats but always in moderation.

Small animals will adapt to almost any type of small animal cage. Bedding is needed for them to burrow in as well as dig and hide. This should be changed regularly. Toy wheels can be given for exercise. Handling your pet should be done gently. Scoop up your pet in the palm of both of your cupped hands. Be careful picking them up because their skin is fragile. A food dish, water bottle, and small box house should be available to your pet.

All pets may bite or scratch, by doing so they may transmit disease to humans. Keep your pets home clean and wash your hands before and after handling your pet or cleaning his home. Anyone at a great risk of infection should use caution when in contact with pet or its habitat.
